Oil Kings Match Franchise Best 31 Wins

Swift Current, SK - Tyler Maxwell and Mark Pysyk each notched a pair of goals while rookie goaltender Tristan Jarry put in a 20 save performance as the Oil Kings rolled to a 6-1 win over the Swift Current Broncos on Friday night. Maxwell tallied the game's opening goal for the 4th straight game as the Oil Kings never looked back. Rookies Curtis Lazar and Mitch Moroz scored the other Oil Kings goals while Jarry, a WHL rookie, held the shutout until a power play with six minutes remaining in the third.

The win gives the Oil Kings a 31-11-1-4 record on the season for 65 points as they remain in sole possession of first in the WHL Eastern conference. This matches the 31 win modern franchise team record set last season. For the fifth week in a row the Oil Kings were ranked in the Canadian Hockey League Top Ten rankings, this week - ninth in the CHL.

Edmonton concludes this East division road trip tomorrow against the Prince Albert Raiders. Puck drop from the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert is 6PM MST. All games this season will be broadcast live on the TEAM 1260 and streamed live at WHL.ca

The Oil Kings next home game is Wednesday, January 25th as the Oil Kings play host a heavyweight tilt with one of the Western Conference's best - the first place Tri City Americans. This will also be another K97 Weiner Wednesday at Rexall Place with $2 hot dogs all night long! Puck Drop is set for 7PM MST at Rexall Place.
