Hitmen Push Winning Streak to Eight with 5-1 Victory

Red Deer, AB - The Calgary Hitmen extended their season high winning streak to eight games with a 5-1 victory over the Red Deer Rebels Tuesday night at Enmax Centruim.

Alex Gogolev scored twice for Calgary while Greg Chase led all Hitmen with three points (1g 2a).

Joey Kornelsen, and Chase Clayton also scored for Calgary who overcame a 1-0 second period deficit while Cody Sylvester chipped in a pair of assists.

Calgary out shot the Rebels 34-30 as Brandon Glover made 29 saves to record his sixth straight start in goal.

Matt Dumba had the lone goal for Red Deer who drops a game below .500 at 19-20-1-4. They remain four points out of a playoff spot.

The Hitmen, now 25-16-2-1 on the season, pull within a single point of both Medicine Hat and Regina for sixth in the WHL Eastern Conference with 53 points.

Calgary opens a five-game home stand tomorrow (Wednesday) against Team USA World Junior forward Emerson Etem and the Medicine Hat Tigers. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Hitmen will also host Prince George Friday (7pm) and Red Deer Sunday (4pm), before welcoming Brandon and Vancouver next week.
