Oil Kings Take Single Point in a War

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings played to a single point as they took suffered a 4-3 loss to the Red Deer Rebels on Sunday night at Rexall Place in a hotly contested match up between division rivals. Kristians Pelss notched an equalizer with under eight minutes to play as both teams battled for a game winner through the third and into overtime. The Oil Kings overall record drops to 27-10-1-4 while the single point salvaged gives the a total of 59 to remain atop the WHL Eastern Conference ahead of second place Moose Jaw with 55. Cole Benson and Jordan Peddle notched the other Oil Kings goals as both teams would combine for 114 PIMS on the night.

Tyler Maxwell was the only Oil King to tally in the shootout while goaltender Laurent Brossoit made three shootout saves despite the loss. Brossoit would finish the night with 19 stops on the night, none bigger then a highlight reel in overtime to push the game to the shootout.

Next up the Oil Kings will make the trip down south as they take on the Medicine Hat Tigers on Thursday before returning to Rexall Place next weekend. Puck drop in the Hat is set for 7PM MST start - all games this season will be broadcast live on the TEAM 1260 and streamed live at WHL.ca

Kootenay Ice! The other brother act coming that night will be the return of the Hanson Brothers from the Movie Slapshot! There'll be a private meet and greet for the season seat holders before the game and an autograph signing on the main concourse from the second period until the end of the game.
