
Stars Soar Past IceHogs 4-2

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (15-16-0-2, 32 points) defeated the Rockford IceHogs (12-19-1-3, 28 points) 4-2 in front of 5,626 fans at the Cedar Park Center on Saturday night. Three Texas skaters had multi-point nights as the Stars improved to 7-7-0-1 at home. Defenseman Brad Lukowich notched a goal and two assists while right wing Colton Sceviour added three assists. Left wing Francis Wathier registered a goal and an assist for Texas. IceHogs' defenseman Dylan Olsen put up two assists on the night. Texas goalie Andrew Raycroft (1-0-1) stopped 25 of 27 shots in his first Texas win of the season. Rockford goalie Alex Richards (6-10-2) stopped 27 of 30 shots as the IceHogs fell to 6-8-1-2 on the road. Texas faces the Rockford IceHogs again on Sunday at 5:00 P.M.
The IceHogs grabbed a 1-0 lead early in the first period at 3:03. Left wing Jeremy Morin found the back of the net with help from defenseman Dylan Olsen. The Stars tied the game 1-1 at 8:55 with a power-play goal by left wing Francis Wathier. Wathier's seventh goal of the year was set up by defenseman Brad Lukowich and right wing Colton Sceviour. Texas took hold of a 2-1 lead with 3:41 remaining in the period. Center Ryan Garbutt netted his seventh goal of the season on the power play. Colton Sceviour and center Scott Glennie each added an assist on the play.
Texas pushed forward to a 3-1 lead just 21 seconds into the second period. Brad Lukowich snapped the puck past Richards for his second goal of the season. Francis Wathier and defenseman Maxime Fortunus each provided an assist. Rockford cut into Texas' lead, 3-2 as defenseman Ben Youds scored from the right circle with 5:32 left in the frame. Left wing Philippe Paradis and defenseman Dylan Olsen helped set up the goal.
Stars' left wing Matt Fraser scored an empty-net goal with 45 seconds left in the third period. Defenseman Brad Lukowich set up the late goal to secure a 4-2 Texas win.
Texas will close out its weekend with a 5:00 p.m. faceoff at home against Rockford, followed by a team autograph session after the game. The Stars play at home again on Wednesday, January 11th at 7:30 p.m. against the Abbotsford Heat. Wednesday is H-E-B Night and a "Winning Wednesday". Fans are encouraged to bring any HEB store brand non-perishable food item to the game and receive $5 off their ticket price. Also, if the Stars win, all fans at the game on Jan. 11 will receive a ticket to the Stars home game on Feb. 8 against Milwaukee.
