
P-Bruins Defeat Sharks 5-2

Worcester, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Worcester Sharks 5-2 Saturday evening at the DCU Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Jamie Tardif, Jamie Arniel, Calle Ridderwall, Kyle MacKinnon and Craig Cunningham. The P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday, January 8 at 4:05 p.m. against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers for Kid's Thundersticks Day.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 2:27 mark of the opening period. Lane MacDermid held the puck halfway along the boards and sent it to the point for Kevan Miller. He shot it towards the goal where it was redirected into the back of the net by Tardif for his ninth goal of the season. Providence led 1-0 going into the first intermission.
After a scoreless second period, the P-Bruins went ahead 2-0 at the 1:18 mark of the third period. Josh Hennessy held the puck in the neutral zone and fed it to Jordan Caron at the blue line. He found Arniel cutting towards the goal, who put the puck off the crossbar and into the net for his second goal of the season. Providence made it 3-0 at the 5:22 mark. Kirk MacDonald worked the puck behind the net and fed it to Ridderwall. From behind the goal he wrapped it around into the net for his third goal of the season. The P-Bruins continued the scoring at the 8:35 mark. Miller had the puck at the right point and sent it to Matt Bartkowski at the left point. He passed it to MacKinnon in the left faceoff circle who shot the puck into the net for his fifth goal of the season. Providence made it 5-0 at the 9:48 mark. Bobby Robins had the puck halfway up the boards and fed it towards the slot for Trent Whitfield. He dropped the puck back to Cunningham, who fired it into the net for his sixth goal of the season. Worcester got on the scoreboard at the 17:03 mark. Sean Sullivan tallied his fifth goal of the season, while Jimmy Bonneau and John McCarthy recorded the assists. The Sharks pulled within three goals at the 18:31 mark. Mike Connolly netted his sixth goal of the season, while Nathan Moon and Brodie Reid picked up the assists. The P-Bruins held on for the 5-2 victory.
Michael Hutchinson stopped 29 of 31 shots for the P-Bruins, while Tyson Sexsmith made 25 saves and Harri Sateri was unable to stop the only shot he faced for the Sharks. The P-Bruins were 0-for-1 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins return to The Dunk Sunday, January 8 for Kid's Thundersticks Day at 4:05 p.m. against the Sound Tigers.
