
Panthers Return Bill Thomas to Rampage

SAN ANTONIO (January 7, 2012) - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that right wing Bill Thomas has been reassigned to the San Antonio Rampage (AHL).
Thomas, 28, has played in 25 games with the Rampage this season scoring nine goals with eight assists and a plus-10 rating. He signed an NHL contract with Florida on Dec. 20, 2011 and has appeared in seven games scoring a goal in the Panthers' 5-3 win over Toronto on Dec. 27, 2011.
The Pittsburgh, Penn. native ranks on the Rampage's all-time list in several categories, including: third in goals (46), fourth in points (102), fourth in plus/minus (18), seventh in assists (56) and second in shorthanded goals (3). He led the Rampage in goals (24) during the 2007-08 season and appeared in seven playoff games with San Antonio in 2008 posting one goal and two assists, including the game winner in Game 3 vs. Toronto.
Thomas has played in 87 career National Hockey League (NHL) games tallying 16 goals and 12 assists with Phoenix (2005-08), Pittsburgh (2008-09), and Florida (2010-12). He signed an AHL contract with the Rampage on Sept. 13, 2011 and has appeared in 272 career AHL games registering 75 goals and 98 assists with San Antonio (2006-08, 2011-12), Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (2008-09), Springfield (2009-10) and Rochester (2010-11).
The Rampage host in-state rival Houston Aeros tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the AT&T Center. Tomorrow's game features an Express-News Sunday Funday that includes a free pregame skate starting at 1 p.m. and the San Antonio Zoo Kids Zone where fans of all ages can enjoy inflatables and interactive games in the Courtyard.
