
Pirates' Offense Stiffled

Portland, Maine - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers (15-17-3-1) defeated the Portland Pirates (16-14-2-3) by a score of 4-0 in front of 5,058 fans at the Cumberland County Civic Center Saturday night. Bridgeport forward Kael Mouillierat had two goals and one assist. Goaltender Kevin Poulin registered his third consecutive shutout breaking a Sound Tigers team record. He has now gone 198 minutes, 17 seconds without surrendering a goal.
After a scoreless first period, Mouillerat got the scored the first of four unanswered Sound Tigers goals in the second period. It came at 6:11 Mouillierat snuck a wrist shot past Portland starting netminder Curtis McElhinney on the rebound. Aaron Ness and Matt Donovan tallied assists on the power play marker.
Rhett Rakhashani extended the Bridgeport lead to 2-0 exactly five minutes later with an assist Casey Cizikis. It followed by Mathieu Aubin's first goal of the season just 1:38 later. Aubin, the former Lewiston MAINEiac playing his third game for Bridgeport, was assisted by Donavan and Mouillierat on his first as a Sound Tiger.
It also marked the end of the night McElhinney, who made 12 saves on15 shots in 31:49 of action
Bridgeport managed to tally one more goal in the period when Mouillierat notched his second marker of the game at the 15:22 mark, this time against Justin Pogge. Mourillerat's second of the night and fourth of the season was assisted by Scott Howes and Calvin de Haan. Like Mouillierat's first goal, his second also came on the power play.
Poulin posted 31 saves shutout, the most saves in his three-game shutout streak. He improves to 10-12-0 on the year. Pogge made 16 saves on 17 shots in relief of McElhinney, who took the loss to drop to 9-13-0 on the season.
Special teams was again a difference as Bridgeport was 2-for-5 on the power play while Portland was held to 0-for-5. Bridgeport outshot Portland 32-31 in the game.

Portland hits the ice again tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon when they face the Worcester Sharks at the DCU Center at 3:00 p.m. Jeff Mannix will have the call on the WPEI 95.9 and 95.5 Portland Pirates Radio Network beginning with the Pregame Show at 2:45 p.m.
Portland next plays at home next Saturday, January 14, when they host the Springfield Falcons.
