Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - Despite a late game scoring surge from Elijah Millsap, the Los Angeles D-Fenders were unable to complete the comeback and two-game sweep of the Reno Bighorns, falling 95-99 Wednesday night at Toyota Sports Center. The loss comes two days after the D-Fenders (2-2) set the team record for largest margin of victory (32 points) against the Bighorns.
Trailing with under 30 seconds to play, Millsap drove the lane and flushed a two-handed dunk to score his seventh straight point for the D-Fenders and cut the deficit to one (95-96). Millsap, who was one of four D-Fenders in double figures, posted a game-high 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting to go with four rebounds and three steals in 36 minutes off the bench. His Bighorns (1-3) counterpart Zach Graham, who logged 39 minutes off the bench, totaled a team-high 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting and nine rebounds.
Teammate Brian Hamilton finished the game with 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, his second-straight 20-plus point game, and a team-high 15 rebounds (eight offensive) while Brian Costner (11 points, 4 rebounds) and Zach Andrews (10 points, 5 rebounds) rounded out the D-Fenders in double-figures.
Blake Ahearn scored19 points and handed out five assists, Taj McCullough registered 15 points, Doug Thomas logged 12 and Nick Fazekas added 11 points in the Bighorns victory.
The D-Fenders next travel to Sioux Falls for back-to-back games on Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3. Both games are at 7:00 pm and are available on Futurecast with Friday's game also being aired nationally on NBA-TV.
For the first time ever, the D-Fenders are offering season ticket packages for the 2011-12 season that include special Lakers ticket purchase opportunities as well as various other incentives. Walk-up day of game general admission and courtside tickets are also still available for most home games.
