MANCHESTER, NH - Defenseman Andrew Campbell scored at 3:55 of the overtime period to lift Manchester Monarchs over the Worcester Sharks, 3-2 in overtime, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night.

Manchester (8-9-0-1) moves into a tie with the Providence Bruins (8-9-1-0) for second place in the Atlantic Division with 17 points each. The Sharks (5-4-2-2) are in fifth place in the Division with 14 points.

"We used a couple of great efforts by Jordan Nolan to scratch our way into the game," said Monarchs Head Coach Mark Morris. "It was a penalty filled affair and kudos to our goaltender for keeping us in it. (Andrew) Campbell scored a big goal. It was a hard fought game. We knew we were in for a battle when there was a dust up in the warm-up. We will take the two points. It was an emotional win and hopefully we ride this momentum into what should be a packed house tomorrow night."

Campbell tallied his first goal of the season, a game-winning strike, at 3:44 of overtime. Right wing Jordan Nolan found defenseman Jake Muzzin at the left point who passed up the one-timer to send a pass over to Campbell at the right point. Campbell teed up a slap shot that beat Sharks goaltender Harri Sateri for the game-winner.

The Sharks struck first with a goal from defenseman Matt Irwin at 5:03 of the second period. The power play goal came on a slap shot from the point in which Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones faced heavy traffic by right wing Tommy Wingels. The shot beat Jones on the stick side for a 1-0 lead. Irwin's sixth goal of the season was assisted by defenseman Sena Acolaste and Benn Ferriero.

The Monarchs knotted the score at 1-1 with their first of two shorthanded goals on the night at 19:36 of the second frame. Monarchs defenseman David Kolomatis stole a pass in his own zone and delivered it to left wing David Meckler along the left wing boards. Meckler skated with the puck to the right corner and dropped a pass to Nolan at the right face-off dot. Nolan wristed a shot to the far side of Sateri for his third tally of the season. Kolomatis picked up an assist on Nolan's equalizer at 19:36 of the middle stanza.

Worcester took the lead at 5:55 in the third period with a tipped goal by Sharks left wing Brian Mashinter. With traffic in front of the net, Irwin received a pass from behind the net by left wing Tony Lucia and took a big slap shot. Mashinter tipped the shot out of the air and found the back of the net to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead.

Manchester scored their second shorthanded goal at 10:10 of the third period. Nolan stole the puck in is own zone, skated up the right wing boards where he and Meckler created a two-on-one situation. Nolan faked a pass and wristed a shot five-hole for his second shorthanded goal of the game.

Jones (5-7-0) earned his fifth victory of the season stopping 34-of-36 shots. Sateri (3-3-0) took h is third loss of the season making 32 saves on 35 shots.

Manchester went 0-for-7 on the power play. The Sharks were 1-for-8 with the man advantage.
