Aeros fall 3-2

HOUSTON --- Chad Rau and Jeff Taffe each scored a goal but the Texas Stars scored in overtime as the Houston Aeros fell to the Stars 3-2 Friday at Toyota Center.

Matt Hackett made 32 saves for Houston, which dropped to 9-3-1-3.

Rau tied the score at 1-1 at 50 seconds in the second period with his first goal of the season. Taffe put the Aeros ahead 2-1 with his fifth goal of the season at 34 seconds in the third period.

Tomas Vincour tied the score at 2-2 with a goal at 13:40 in the third period, and Raymond Sawada scored at 1:30 in overtime to give Texas the win.

Jordie Benn scored a power play goal at 11:03 in the first period to put Texas up 1-0. Richard Bachman made 21 saves for Texas.

The Aeros travel to Cedar Park to take on Texas Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Cedar Park Center before returning to Toyota Center to take on Abbotsford at 5:05 p.m. Sunday.
