
Stars Host H-E-B Food Drive for Capital Area Food Bank

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars Foundation announced details on Friday about the H-E-B Food Drive Night to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank.
The food drive is a joint partnership between the Texas Stars Foundation, the Texas Stars Hockey Club, Capital Area Food Bank, H-E-B, and BOB FM. The two-day food drive runs from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 19th and from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 20th at the main entrance of Cedar Park Center. The Texas Stars, and BOB FM (103.5 FM-Austin) will be collecting non-perishable food items to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank. For a minimum donation of eight (8) non-perishable food items, donors will receive a ticket to see the Texas Stars take on their division rivals, the San Antonio Rampage, on Thursday, October 20th. There will be no limit on how many items a fan may donate. For every eight items that are donated, a fan will receive an additional game ticket. Join BOB FM for a live radio remote on Wednesday, October 19th from 11 AM to 1 PM. Cash donations may also be made directly to the Capital Area Food Bank.
"From wildfire disaster relief to their day-to-day efforts, the Capital Area Food Bank provides an invaluable service," said Texas Stars AVP of Marketing Michael Delay. "The Texas Stars Foundation, as well as the entire Texas Stars organization, is proud to assist the food bank in their mission of ending hunger in central Texas."
Prizes will be awarded for the single largest cash and non-perishable goods donor. All donors will be entered to win additional prizes from the Texas Stars, Cedar Park Center, and BOB FM. The Cedar Park Center will also provide a complimentary youth ticket to ArenaCross as an incentive to donate.
Capital Area Food Bank volunteers will be on hand to answer questions throughout the food drive. Prior to the opening face-off, Capital Area Food Bank President & Chief Executive Officer Hank Perret, as well as, representatives from H-E-B will participate in the ceremonial puck drop.
Over the last three seasons, the Texas Stars and H-E-B have teamed up to run a season-long campaign. In 2010-11, the two partnered to collect more than 1,421 pounds of food for the Capital Area Food Bank, which provided over 1,130 meals for Central Texans in need.
The Texas Stars Foundation The Texas Stars Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the community through the impact of professional sports. Formed in the summer of 2010, the Texas Stars Foundation is the official charity of the Texas Stars' management and players. By encouraging teamwork, interaction, and education, the Texas Stars Foundation strives to enrich the greater Central Texas area.
In its first year of operation the Texas Stars Foundation has supported more than 215 community programs and charitable organizations with donations in excess of $107,000. Major beneficiaries include but are not limited to; Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure(r), Cedar Park Veterans Memorial, 100 Club of Central Texas, UNICEF, Human Society of Williamson County, Youth Hockey Foundation of Austin (YHFA) and the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center.
Capital Area Food Bank The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas is to nourish hungry people and lead the community in ending hunger. In its 30th year of service, the Food Bank currently provides food and grocery products to more than 350 Partner Agencies in 21 Central Texas counties. The Stars will take on the Houston Aeros on Friday, October 14th at 7:30 P.M. at Cedar Park Center. Friday is 3-2-1 night featuring $3 domestic drafts, $2 sodas, and $1 hot dogs. Texas travels to Oklahoma City on Saturday, October 15th for a 7:00 P.M. faceoff against the Barons.
