Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release
Lethbridge, AB - Lethbridge Hurricanes General Manager/Head Coach, Rich Preston, announced today the Canes have traded overage Right Winger Matt Marantz to the Regina Pats in exchange for a 4th round WHL Bantam Draft pick in 2013. Marantz, a Calgary native, was acquired on September 29th from the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for 4th round pick in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. The 91-born 6'0 190 pound forward played one game with the Chiefs this season before being acquired by Lethbridge where in 6 games he registered 5 assists, had 2 PIM's and was a -5 plus/minus rating. In 115 career WHL games, Marantz has 52 points (22G, 30A), 106 PIM's and a +11 plus/minus rating.
Of Marantz, Head Coach and GM Rich Preston said "he's been a good player and a real good competitor for us in his short time here. We wish him all the best of luck in Regina." Today's trade of Marantz cuts down the Lethbridge Hurricanes overage situation ahead of Thursday's 20-year old cutdown deadline, but still leaves the team with four on the roster - Cam Braes, Austin Fyten, 2011 NHL Draft pick Brody Sutter and Damien Ketlo.
The Lethbridge Hurricanes are on the road for their next two games, starting with the Red Deer Rebels tonight and the Kootenay Ice on Friday. They'll return home to host the Swift Current Broncos on Saturday night. As always you can follow the Hurricanes at home and on the road by tuning in to 94.1 CJOC or follow them on Twitter @CanesCast.
