Oil Kings Blow Away Hurricanes

Lethbridge, AB - The Oil Kings took an early lead and never looked back as they posted a 5-1 road win over the hometown Lethbridge Hurricanes on Tuesday night. Goaltender Laurent Brossoit posted his best game of what is turning into a breakout season with an impressive 37 save performance to help lead the Kings to their third win out of four on this grueling five game road swing. Brossoit's record goes to 5-2-1-0 on the year and he currently sits in the WHL Top 10 in goals against average, save percentange, wins and saves all while leading the WHL in minutes played.

Rhett Rachinski led the way offensively with a three point night while Michael St.Croix, Klarc Wilson and T.J. Foster each had an goal and an assist. Rookie Mitch Moroz notched his second goal in as many games while Slovak Martin Gernat tallied an assist as he continues to lead the WHL Rookie scoring race as well as WHL scoring by a defenseman.

The Kings special teams were outstanding as the power play went 2 for 6 while holding the Hurricanes to 0 for 11 with the man advantage. Edmonton's record goes to 5-2-1-1 as they move into sole possession of first in the WHL Central Division.

Next up, the Oil Kings will wrap this five game road trip as they take on the defending WHL Champion Kootenay Ice in Cranbrook on Wednesday. Puck Drop is set for 7PM - remember that all games this season will be broadcast live on the TEAM 1260 and streamed live at WHL.ca.

The Oil Kings will finally make their return to Rexall Place on Friday, October 14th in a match up against the Regina Pats.
