New Orleans, La. - Anderson Hernandez extended a hitting streak to 29 games with a first inning single, the lone hit for the Oklahoma City RedHawks (66-73), in a 1-0 loss to the New Orleans Zephyrs (67-72) before 3,911 Wednesday night at Zephyr Field.

Hernandez singled on a soft line drive that dropped short of right fielder Jorge Padilla, extending the longest hitting streak in the Pacific Coast League in 2011. Hernandez finished the game 1-for-4, and is now batting .386 (49x127) during the 29-game run.

New Orleans starter Darin Downs (3-2) gave up only the Hernandez hit and a fielder's choice before retiring his final 23 hitters in eight shutout innings for the winning decision. RedHawks starter Xavier Cedeno (2-3) gave up a first inning run and two hits in five innings for the loss. Dan Jennings (1) saved the game for New Orleans with a scoreless ninth inning, giving up a leadoff walk in the ninth inning.

The Zephyrs opened the scoring in the first inning against Cedeno. Chris Coghlan led off with an infield single, moved to second on a walk, advanced to third on a balk and scored on a Mike Cervenak groundout for a 1-0 score.

New Orleans collected only three hits the remainder of the game, a Matt Dominguez fifth inning double, Joe Thurston sixth inning infield hit and a Donnie Murphy seventh inning double.
