
Three-Run Ninth Sends OKC to Comeback Win

New Orleans, La. - Chris Johnson finished 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, including the go-ahead RBI double in a three-run ninth inning, leading the Oklahoma City RedHawks (65-72) to a 7-6 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs (66-71) before 3,677 Monday night at Zephyr Field.
RedHawks infielder Anderson Hernandez singled to right field in the first inning, extending a hitting streak to 27 games. Hernandez finished 2-for-4.
RedHawks reliever Ross Wolf (4-3) allowed one hit in a scoreless eighth inning for the winning decision. Zephyrs reliever Corey Madden (1-2) allowed the three-run ninth inning for the loss. Jeff Fulchino (3) saved the game with a perfect ninth inning.
New Orleans opened the scoring with a three-run first inning, using an RBI double from Donnie Murphy and a two-run double from Jorge Padilla to build a 3-0 lead.
The RedHawks countered in the second inning when Chris Johnson connected on a solo home run to left-centerfield, his third with Oklahoma City, for a 3-1 score.
The teams traded fourth inning runs, as Johnson doubled home an OKC run in the top before a Brad Davis single scored a Zephyr run in the bottom for a 4-2 score.
New Orleans built a 6-2 lead with a two-run fifth inning, using an RBI double from Padilla and another Davis RBI single to add to the lead.
The RedHawks started a rally in the sixth inning. Shuck led off with a double and scored on a Jake Goebbert single for a 6-3 score. In the eighth inning pinch hitter Drew Locke doubled in a run for a 6-4 score.
Oklahoma City completed the comeback in the ninth inning. Brett Wallace singled in a run for a 6-5 game, Shuck singled in another for a 6-6 deadlock and Chris Johnson doubled in a third run for a 7-6 RedHawks lead.
