Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds return home to Greer Stadium on Wednesday to open their final homestand of the season, a five-game set against the visiting state-rival Memphis Redbirds (Cardinals affiliate).
Highlighting the week's worth of promotions will be a Sounds Hat Giveaway, Taco Bell Throwback Thursday, two Fireworks shows, and Fan Appreciation Night.
As part of the family-friendly Kids Eat Free promotion, all kids 12 & under will receive a voucher for one free hot dog, one free small bag of chips, and free one soft drink with paid admission for Wednesday evening's 7:05 p.m. homestand opener with Memphis. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
For the final time in 2011, Sounds players will be wearing retro 1980s-style uniforms for Taco Bell Throwback Thursday while fans enjoy concession stands filled with discounted pricing, such as $2 beer, $2 soft drinks, $2 hot dogs, $2 popcorn, and $2 nachos. Beer sales will conclude at the end of the 6th inning, while Slugger's Sports Bar will sell until the end of game. Fans with Taco Bell receipts and college students with valid college IDs will receive $5 general admission tickets to the game. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6:05 p.m.
For Friday's 7:05 p.m. game against the Redbirds, the first 2,000 fans through the turnstiles will receive a premium Sounds hat, sponsored by Vanderbilt Sports Medicine. Adding to the excitement of the homestand, Firestone Friday Fireworks will light up the sky following the action on the field. Gates open at 6:05 p.m.
Saturday night is Girl Scout Night, offering Girl Scouts an opportunity for a fun-filled evening camping right on the field - overnight at Greer Stadium (weather permitting). Sunday evening's 6:35 p.m. contest will be the last home game of the regular season, as the Sounds celebrate Fan Appreciation Night. This special evening, dedicated to the fans, consists of many between-inning giveaways, free Fun Zone games for children, $1 ice cream sundaes, and autographs from the players at the gates and on the field. In addition, the 2011 Sounds Team MVP and Sounds Fan Favorite will be recognized in an on-field ceremony prior to the game. Gates open at 5:35 p.m.
