Zephyrs Open Final Homestand of 2011 on Wednesday

Metairie, LA - The New Orleans Zephyrs will host the Omaha Storm Chasers and Oklahoma City RedHawks for a nine-game homestand that concludes the 2011 season, beginning Wednesday night, August 24 at 7:00 p.m.

The Zephyrs have been buoyed by the additions of Logan Morrison and Chris Coghlan to the lineup in recent days. Morrison had 17 home runs and 60 RBI in 95 games with the Florida Marlins this season, while Coghlan, the 2009 National League Rookie of the Year, is on the mend from knee and shoulder injuries.

The scheduled pitching matchups for the series with Omaha:

Wednesday (7 pm):

RH Chris Sampson (8-1, 3.74 ERA) vs. RH Vin Mazarro (5-2, 4.51)

Thursday (7 pm):

RH Elih Villanueva (6-10, 5.55) vs. LH Mike Montgomery (5-8, 5.33)

Friday (7 pm):

LH Darin Downs (2-1, 3.97) vs. RH Luis Mendoza (10-5, 2.18)

Saturday (6 pm):

RH Tom Koehler (10-7, 5.16) vs. RH Jeff Suppan (11-6, 4.40)

The homestand begins with Wine Down Wednesday, featuring $3 Copa wine specials and half- price admission for ladies, followed by Thirsty Thursday, with $1 sodas and beers. After the final Fireworks Friday of the season, the Z's host the Storm Chasers at 6 p.m. Saturday, with the first 1,000 fans receiving a 2011 Zephyrs Team Photo, courtesy of the Orthopedic Center for Sports Medicine. Sunday is Kids Day, sponsored by Coca-Cola, as the first 500 kids will eat for free, and all kids will have a chance to run the bases on the field following the 6 p.m. game, presented by Cox Media.

The Zephyrs welcome the Oklahoma City RedHawks on Monday with the return of Baseball Bingo. Fans can follow along with the action on the field for a chance to win prizes from Treasure Chest Casino. The series with the RedHawks runs through the season finale on Thursday, September 1 - Fan Appreciation Night - with a Zephyrs poster giveaway, sponsored by Chef Paul's Magic Seasonings, for the first 1,000 fans, $1 sodas and beers, and a spectacular season-ending fireworks show.
