Reading Fightin Phils News Release
(Reading, PA) -- Brooks Brown turned 26-years-old on Monday -- he celebrated on Tuesday.
Brown (1-1, 4.60) tossed seven solid innings, Francisco Martinez ripped two hits and had two RBIs, and the Erie SeaWolves handed the R-Phils their season-high sixth-straight loss with a 4-1 win on Tuesday at FirstEnergy Stadium.
A native of Statesboro, GA, Brown, allowed just one run on four hits en-route to his first win of the season. The 6'3" righty fanned a season-high seven batters and allowed two walks. He began the 2011 season on the disabled list and was activated on June 5.
Last season, Brown was named the SeaWolves' Pitcher of the Year, as he went 12-9 with a 4.15 ERA. He was an Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star last year as well.
The R-Phils home woes continued, as they have now dropped all five games on the homestand. Reading is now just 17-21 at home this season, and are now just 35-35 on the season.
Shortstop Freddy Galvis provided the lone spark for Reading on Tuesday. Galvis, a native of Venezuela, went 2-4 with a double and a run scored. He now has seven hits over his last three games, and has his batting average up to .274 on the season.
Philadelphia Phillies catcher Brian Schneider went 0-3 as the R-Phils catcher on Tuesday. Schneider has now played five games for Reading, as he rehabs his strained left hamstring. The 34-year-old backstop is scheduled to be back in Reading on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the R-Phils will send RHP J.C. Ramirez (5-6, 4.31) to the hill. Taking the mound for Erie will be LHP Jay Voss (2-2, 4.40).
Coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1240 AM WIOV and readingphillies.com. Brian Seltzer will have the call for all of the action. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
