Lexington Legends News Release

Mike Foltynewicz worked six strong innings and the Lexington Legends held off the Augusta GreenJackets 5-2 Tuesday night in Augusta.

The Legends took the lead with a run in the top of the second inning. Mike Kvasnicka led off with a double, moved to third on a ground out by Emilio King, and scored on an RBI grounder by Ben Orloff, who reached base on an error by shortstop Ehire Adrianza.

Lexington added a run in the third on a double by Enrique Hernandez and a triple by Chris Wallace. The Legends made it 3-0 in the fourth when Orloff walked, advanced to second on an infield out, and scored on a single by Delino DeShields, Jr.

Augusta's Adam Duvall, a former University of Louisville star, hit a solo homer in the fifth to cut the lead to 3-1. It was Duvall's third home run in three games. He leads the South Atlantic League in homers with 17.

The Legends scored twice in the eighth inning. Kvasnicka doubled, King walked, and both moved up on a sacrifice by Orloff. With the infield playing in, Adrianza fielded Medrano's grounder and threw Kvasnicka out at home for the second out, but Jordan Scott singled, scoring King. DeShields walked, loading the bases, and after Edward Concepcion relieved Drew Bowlin for Augusta, Hernandez lined a single to center, his third hit of the game. Medrano scored to give the Legends a 5-1 lead.

Augusta scored its final run in the bottom of the eighth on a double by Ryan Lollis, an infield out, and a single by Joel Weeks.

Foltynewicz (3-6) allowed eight hits, but only one run, the homer by Duvall. Jason Chowning picked up his second save with one and two-thirds innings of hitless relief. Augusta starter Mike Kickham (1-4) was the losing pitcher.

Augusta has won two of three games in the series, which concludes with a 12:05 p.m. game Wednesday. Attendance 1,352
