HICKORY, NC - The 'Dads offense exploded this week with Hickory claiming seven of their last eight contests and scoring at least eight runs in each of those victories. The stellar play resulted in the 'Dads sweeping the South Atlantic League weekly awards, with OF Jake Skole winning the Player of the Week and RHP Nick Tepesch earning Pitcher of the Week.
The Crawdads are now 36-27, a mere one game back of the 1st-place Hagerstown Suns in the SAL Northern Division and tied with the Greensboro Grasshoppers for second place. The 'Dads have six games left in the half. Whichever team wins the first half will earn a guaranteed spot in the 2011 SAL Playoffs!

'DADS SWEEP SAL WEEKLY AWARDS!
The South Atlantic League announced on Monday that the 'Dads swept the Player of the Week awards for June 6 - 12. OF Jake Skole was named Player of the Week and RHP Nick Tepesch won the Pitcher of the Week, as Hickory becomes the first team since the Charleston RiverDogs in 2009 to win both awards in the same week!
Be sure to come early to Friday's 7 p.m. game at L.P. Frans for the award presentation!
PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES:
~The Crawdads tied a season-high with seven runs in one inning on both Sunday and Monday, and have now accomplished that feat three times this season.
~Four Crawdads are tied for the team lead with six home runs (SS Jurickson Profar, RF Josh Richmond, C Tomas Telis, and 3B Christian Villanueva).
~The Crawdads lead the SAL with an 8-2 record in the last 10 games.
~3B Christian Villanueva is the best fielding third baseman in the SAL (.947 fielding percentage).
~The Crawdads are the second-best defensive team in the league (.973 fielding percentage).
~Hickory has the second-best batting average (.271) in the SAL.
~Crawdads batters have struck out the fewest times (401) in the SAL.
~The Crawdads have allowed the the second-fewest home runs (35) and third-fewest runs (268) while striking out the second-most batters (549) in the SAL.
~Hickory boasts an on-base percentage of .353, which is tied for first in the SAL.
