Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Augusta, GA - From cheating lovers to disgraced politicians, the second chance has been the salvation of many a life and a reputation. After a first half to the 2011 South Atlantic League season that saw the Augusta GreenJackets take an earlier-than-usual departure from contention, the GreenJackets are the latest in a long line of teams, groups and individuals to ask for a "do-over."
The GreenJackets announce that their second-half home opener on Monday June 27th against the Charleston RiverDogs has been renamed "Opening Night II" or "Mulligan Night". Just like during the original Opening Night in April, the ballpark will be decked out with full bunting and a color guard will present the American flag during the National Anthem. Both teams will be introduced along the foul lines during pregame ceremonies, just like Opening Night.
As is the case for every other Monday game in the 2011 season, hot dogs will be available for only a dollar from ballpark concession stands. And for one game only, the GreenJackets will be wearing a special green jersey top to give the night more of a fresh look.
"The second half represents a fresh start for the GreenJackets and with a new jersey, they'll have a fresh look on the field to go along with their fresh perspective." GreenJackets General Manager Nick Brown said. "Hopefully the GreenJackets will get back to their winning ways in the second half and we invite our fans to come back and give our team a second chance"
First pitch for the June 27th contest will come at 7:05 p.m. and gates will open at 6. Currently, the GreenJackets are in the midst of an eight-game homestand that runs through Sunday with the third game in a four-game series tonight against the Lexington Legends. First pitch also comes at 7:05 p.m. tonight. Single-game tickets for tonight's game and any home game can currently be obtained by calling 706-922-WINS or online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com .
