Horst Becomes 48th Former Dragon to Reach Majors

Dayton, Ohio- Jeremy Horst, a member of the 2008 Dayton Dragons, made his Major League debut for the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves, becoming the 48th former Dragons player to play in the big leagues.

Horst, a left-handed pitcher, worked two and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on two hits with four strikeouts. He has spent the rest of the 2011 season with the Class AAA Louisville Bats of the International League, posting a 1.73 earned run average in 12 games with an 0-1 record.

Horst was the Dragons best pitcher in 2008, going 8-2 with a 2.38 ERA in 36 games (10 starts). He started two of the Dragons four playoff games that season including the playoff opener, when he beat Lansing with six and two-thirds scoreless innings at Fifth Third Field.

Todd Frazier became the first 47th former Dragons player to make his major league debut earlier this season when he appeared in a game with the Reds on May 23rd.
