Wichita Wingnuts News Release

WICHITA, KS- Wichita Wingnuts' starting pitcher Nick Singleton has been named the Pointstreak American Association Pitcher of the Week for May 23rd-May 29th.

Singleton went 2-0 in two starts last week, allowing just four earned runs in 14.1 innings while striking out 15. On Monday, Singleton allowed three earned runs in 6.1 innings in a series-opening victory at Gary SouthShore. Singleton fanned seven in the win.

Yesterday evening, the Montgombery, AL native worked eight complete innings and allowed one earned run in a rubber match win at Lincoln. Singleton struck out a season-high eight, while allowing just one walk and five hits. The 28-year old right-hander retired 23 of the final 26 batters to face him.

Singleton is now a league-best 5-0 on the season with a 3.00 ERA in four starts and two relief outings. The second-year Wingnuts pitcher is also leading the league with 31 strikeouts.

This marks the 12th time a Wingnuts player has earned a league Player of the Week award, and the sixth time a pitcher has received the honor.
