Iowa Wolves News Release

NEW YORK, April 13, 2011 - The Houston Rockets signed forward Marqus Blakely of the Iowa Energy for the 27th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA Development League season. Blakely's call-up, his first, increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience, including players currently on assignment to their NBA D-League affiliates, to 101.

One of the NBA D-League's top rookies this season, Blakely (6-5, 225) averaged 15.0 points and 6.3 rebounds in 49 games (19 starts) this season with Iowa and the Bakersfield Jam. In 24 regular-season games with the Energy, which he joined in late January, Blakely averaged 17.2 points and 6.6 rebounds, and shot 69.5 percent (166-for-239) from the field. Blakely, who was drafted by Bakersfield in the first round (12th overall) of the 2010 NBA D-League Draft, was in training camp with the Los Angeles Clippers this past fall, and played on the Clippers' 2010 NBA Summer League team.

Blakely had a decorated college career at Vermont, where he averaged 14.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals in 129 games over four years. He was an AP All-America Honorable Mention selection as a junior in 2009, was twice named the America East Conference Player of the Year (2008, 2009) and was a three-time America East Defensive Player of the year (2009, 2009, 2010).

Blakely is expected to join the Rockets tonight for their game at Minnesota at 8 p.m. ET, their final game of the regular season.
