BAKERSFIELD, April 13, 2011 - The Los Angeles Lakers signed guard Trey Johnson of the Bakersfield Jam for the remainder of the season for the 26th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA Development League season. Johnson's call-up, his second this season and fourth overall, increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience, including players currently on assignment to their NBA D-League affiliates, to 101.

Johnson (6-5, 215) was the NBA D-League's leading scorer this season, averaging 25.5 points, to go along with 4.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 39 games with Bakersfield. Johnson's 48-point game against Erie on March 18 is the highest individual-scoring game in the NBA D-League this season, and Johnson scored in double figures in all but one of his games with the Jam.

Johnson earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the Toronto Raptors in January, and appeared in seven games with Toronto, averaging 4.0 points and 1.6 assists in 11.6 minutes. Johnson earned two GATORADE Call-Ups to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008-09, and spent the 2010 NBA preseason with the Lakers.

A fourth-year pro, Johnson averaged 25.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in two collegiate seasons at Jackson State. In 2006-07, Johnson was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and his 27.1 points per game that season led the nation.

Johnson will join the Lakers tonight for the team's game at Sacramento at 7:30 p.m. PST, their final game of the regular season.
