Reading Rolls to 13-5 Win

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs suffered their second straight loss to the Reading Phillies, 13-5, Saturday afternoon at Hadlock Field before a crowd of 4,036. Portland drops to 1-2 on the season while Reading improves to 2-1 as the Phillies collected 13 runs on 17 hits, 12 for extra bases.
Stolmy Pimentel's first inning in Double-A was a struggle, allowing four runs on four hits. Harold Garcia gave the Phillies a 1-0 lead with a solo-homer into the right-field seats. With two outs, Reading scored three runs off Pimentel, thanks to run-scoring singles by Derrick Mitchell and Tim Kennelly.
Pimentel (0-1), 21 years-old and the sixth ranked prospect in the Red Sox organization according to Baseball America, suffered the loss lasting only three innings, allowing five runs on six hits. Pimentel walked three and recorded one strike out.
Down 6-0 in the fourth, the Sea Dogs cut the lead in half when Oscar Tejeda collected his first Double-A hit; a RBI double scoring Tim Federowicz. Will Middlebrooks followed by crushing a two run homer over the Dunkin' Donuts scoreboard in left-center field.
Chris Frey collected his second home run in as many days in the sixth inning off Eammon Portice putting the Phillies up 7-3. Frey was 4-for-6 with four RBI on the day.
Middlebrooks added a RBI double scoring Federowicz in the sixth, bringing the score to 7-4. Middlebrooks would have an impressive 4-for-4 day with two doubles, home run, 3 RBI, and a run scored. He is now hitting .545 for the season.
Caleb Clay entered the game in the seventh and was greeted by a home run to center off the bat of Cody Overbeck, his second home run of the series, extending the Reading lead to 8-4. Reading added a single run in the eighth inning and exploded for four runs in the ninth. Reading would score in every inning but the second and fifth innings.
Matt Rizzotti also had an impressive day for Reading with three doubles and three runs scored.
Reading starter Ryan Edell (1-0) earned the win holding the Sea Dogs to three runs on seven hits in five innings of work, including four strikeouts and no walks.
Michael Cisco (1) earned a save tossing four innings, yielding one run on four hits.
The Sea Dogs look to rebound from today's loss in the series finale on Sunday at 1:00 PM at Hadlock Field. Stephen Fife, a 2010 Eastern League All-Star, will take the mound for the Sea Dogs. He will be opposed by reading righty Chris Kissock.
