Crunch Sign Left Wing Gabe Gauthier

Syracuse, NY (October 26, 2010) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have signed left wing Gabe Gauthier to a professional tryout contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Gauthier, 26, has appeared in two games with Victoria (ECHL) this season, collecting four penalty minutes. Prior to this year, Gauthier spent four seasons in the Los Angeles Kings organization from 2006-10. During that time, Gauthier skated in 270 AHL contests with the Manchester Monarchs, tallying 179 points (57g, 122a).

Gauthier's best season came during the 2007-08 campaign, when he notched 60 points (23g, 37a) in 61 games with Manchester and was selected to the AHL All-Star Game. In addition, he has appeared in eight NHL games with Los Angeles, recording two penalty minutes.

Prior to turning pro, Gauthier spent four seasons from 2002-06 as a standout with the University of Denver (WCHA), registering 150 points (64g, 86a) in 162 games, and won back-to-back NCAA National Championships with the Pioneers in 2003-04 and 2004-05. A native of Torrance, California, Gauthier was originally signed by Los Angeles as a free agent on July 7, 2006.

The Crunch travel to Hamilton on Wednesday, October 27 to face the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Syracuse returns home to face Hershey on Friday, October 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
