Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings open their 2010-11 Western Hockey League season, presented by ATB Financial, this Friday at 7 p.m. against the Red Deer Rebels, and fans can look forward to a highly-competitive team on the ice, as well as a fun-filled experience in the crowd at Rexall Place.
The team officially launched the season with a media conference on Wednesday at Rexall Place, and the coaches and players expressed how eager they are to take to the ice and battle their way towards the WHL playoffs.
"We can't wait for Friday to get the season going," the team's new head coach Derek Laxdal said on Wednesday. "We've got a great mix of veteran leadership and young, talented prospects, and we're looking forward to being really competitive this season. We're already a really tight group and that's going to show with our performance on the ice."
The Oil Kings are also pleased to announce their promotional lineup (see below) for the first portion of their 2010-11 WHL season, starting with the Home Opener this Friday against the Red Deer Rebels.
This season's game day experience will offer more entertainment, more giveaways and live bands, mixed in with a few fan favourites along the way. Unless otherwise noted, all games are 7 p.m. starts at Rexall Place.
Individual game tickets for all Oil Kings home games are on sale now and start at just $15 in the ATB Financial Zone. Season seats start at less than $9 with the addition of some new Mini-Packs and Flex Plans this season as well. Tickets are available at any Ticketmaster outlet, online at oilkings.ca, or by calling 780-414-GOAL (4625).
