TONIGHT: The RedHawks open the final series of the regular season with the first of 4 against the Omaha Royals. OKC went 3-5 in the series with Nashville that ended yesterday with 3-2 and 5-4 wins by the Sounds in the second of back-to-back doubleheaders. OKC leads the American South by 2 games over Albuquerque. Omaha is third, 2 games back of the tie between Iowa and Memphis. The RedHawks lead the season series with the Royals 8-4, having taken 3 of 4 from Omaha the last time the teams met in late June at The Brick. Lefty Michael Ballard gets the start for the RedHawks.

THE FINAL 4: The RedHawks' division lead sits at 2 games with 4 to play after yesterday's doubleheader sweep at the hands of Nashville and Albuquerque's 13-3 win over Iowa. The magic number for the RedHawks to clinch remains 3 games. Albuquerque owns the first tiebreaker over the RedHawks by winning the season series 10-6. The Isotopes open a season-ending 4-game series at Round Rock tonight. The Express have lost 9 in a row and 12 of 13, with the only win in that stretch over OKC Aug. 24. Albuquerque is 7-5 against the Express this year, 103 at The Dell Diamond.

REVOLVING DOOR: Righthander Dustin Nippert was activated from his rehab by Texas today. The Rangers purchased lefty Clay Rapada from the RedHawks and recalled catcher Taylor Teagarden. Right-handed starter Omar Beltre, who injured his right ankle backing up home plate on Wednesday, was recalled and placed on Texas' 60-day DL. Righthander Brennan Garr was promoted from Double-A Frisco.

DOUBLEHEADER RESULTS: OKC's doubleheader yesterday was their fourth losing sweep of the year. OKC was also swept by Fresno May 17, at Iowa July 20 and at Memphis July 24. OKC swept its opposition in 2 doubleheaders this season (New Orleans, June 16 and Nashville July 7). The RedHawks split one, Wednesday's twin bill with Nashville.

GAME TIME AND BROADCAST CHANGES: Tonight's game will be broadcast on 96.1 FM KXY to avoid conflicts with high school football on the RedHawks regular AM stations. Fox Sports 1340 will air all 3 weekend games. Saturday at 11:05 am, Sunday at 4:05 and Monday at 1:05.

IRIBARREN FINISHING STRONGLY: Hernan Iribarren has the PCL's third-best batting average (.398) since Aug 5. Iribarren is tied for the league lead since Aug. 5 in hits (43) with Albuquerque's Ivan De Jesus, Jr.

KIRKMAN PITCHER OF YEAR: Michael Kirkman was named yesterday the PCL Pitcher of the Year. Kirkman, now a member of the Rangers' bullpen, went 13-3 with a 3.09 ERA for the RedHawks in 24 games (22 starts). Kirkman remains third in the league with 3.09 ERA, tied for second in strikeouts (130) and wins.
