Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Shane Loux tossed his first complete-game shutout since 2004 and the Round Rock Express put the brakes on a nine-game losing skid with a 3-0 blanking of the Albuquerque Isotopes in Friday night's series opener at The Dell Diamond. It was the sixth shutout of the season for the Express (56-85), while the Isotopes (70-70) cling to a 7-6 advantage in the season series.

Loux (6-12) suffered his least-effective outing of the season at Memphis in his last start. However, he was at his best of the 2010 campaign Friday against Albuquerque. He scattered five singles, two of which were of the infield variety, and did not walk a batter with six strikeouts. Loux did not allow more than one base-runner in any inning, and allowed only one runner into scoring position - stranding Scott Van Slyke at third base in the fifth.

The Express scored a pair of runs in the third on a J.B. Shuck RBI fielder's choice and an Oswaldo Navarro RBI groundout. Edwin Maysonet capped the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh.

Albuquerque starter John Ely (5-4) was collared with the tough-luck loss; he allowed three runs on five hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over 7.0 innings. Justin Miller worked around a pair of singles for a scoreless eighth.

Brandon Barnes and Collin DeLome were 2-for-3 and 1-for-4, respectively; each doubled and scored a run. Trent Oeltjen had two of Albuquerque's five hits.

Round Rock and Albuquerque continue their four-game series Saturday with a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch at The Dell Diamond. Southpaw Andy Van Hekken (7-8, 4.52 ERA) gets the start for the Express, while right-hander Charlie Haeger (4-2, 5.66 ERA) is slated to go for the Isotopes.
