
ValleyCats Set to Break All-Time Attendance Record for Seventh Consecutive Season

TROY, NY -- The Tri-City ValleyCats, in their ninth-season, will host their final homestand of the 2010 regular season on Saturday night at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, and for the seventh consecutive year, the 'Cats will once again break their single season attendance record. It will take 7,809 fans to break their all -time record of 145,976, and barring any rainouts, this number should be broken on Sunday evening.
This comes on the heels of the ValleyCats looking to make their first postseason appearance since 2006, in which the 'Cats posted a 43-31 record and lost in the New York-Penn League Championship series to the Staten Island Yankees.
Heading into Friday night, the ValleyCats (32-32) are only one-half game behind the first place Vermont Lakemonsters (31-30). The 'Cats will play one more games versus the Hudson Valley Renegades in Fishkill, before heading back to Troy for a 3-game series against the same Renegades. The 'Cats will then travel to Lowell for a 3-game set against Red Sox affiliate Lowell Spinners, before ending the season in Brooklyn with three games against the Mets affiliate Brooklyn Cyclones. Brooklyn (42-21) currently boasts the best record in the New York Penn League.
The ValleyCats final homestand begins on Saturday night at 7pm against the Hudson Valley Renegades with "Girls' Night Out". The game will be followed by our popular annual Diamond Dig, in which all the ladies in attendance will have the opportunity to dig for a gem courtesy of Jewelry by Don Cook. Saturday's contest, like all three of this weekend's games, will be followed by fireworks, sponsored by Price Chopper.
Sunday's game, starting at 5 pm, will be part of a very busy day on College Night at "The Joe!", presented by Sunmark FCU. Before the game will be the annual Media Home Run Derby, pitting the area's best journalists against each other in a longball contest. The 'Cats will also give away bobblehead dolls of Liz Bishop, courtesy of CDTA. Bishop was the winner of the offseason Media Bobblehead Bracket Buster Tournament. There will be postgame fireworks , presented by Price Chopper! Sponsors include MVP Health Care and Mary Jane Books.
On Monday night, at the final home game of the 2010 regular season, the 'Cats will wrap up the "Season of the 1,000,000th Fan" on "Fans for Life" appreciation night. Monday will also be Back to School Night, presented by NY's 529 College Savings Program, and Yankee Trails will give away two sets of 4 tickets to see the New York Yankees on September 8. Of course, the season wouldn't be complete without one final Price Chopper fireworks show!
Individual playoff tickets and playoff ticket packages will go on sale at 11AM Saturday, August 28th. You may purchase online at tcvalleycats.com , by calling 518-629-2287, or by stopping by the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium box office. Vouchers, coupons, and rain exchanges will NOT be valid for any playoff ticket, and individual coupons or discounts cannot be applied to playoff games. In the event that games are not played, refunds will be issued.
