Suns Postpone Fireworks Show

August 5, 2010 - Southern League (SL1)
Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Suns have announced that Friday's scheduled post-game NAPA Family Fireworks show has been postponed due to safety concerns. After consulting with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the Fire Marshall, SMG Officials and a representative from Santore - the fireworks manufacturer, the Suns felt it necessary to postpone out of a genuine concern for public safety.

With an anticipated crowd of nearly 30,000 in and around the Sports Complex for a sold-out event in Veterans Memorial Arena and a free event at Everbank Field, trying to secure the footprint necessary for a huge fireworks display would be a daunting task.

Commenting on the postponement Suns President and General Manager Peter D. Bragan Jr. stated that "it's an unfortunate situation. We certainly appreciate our good friends with NAPA and NAPA Autocare Center Dealers for understanding and supporting our decision concerning this dilemma. I would like to apologize to our loyal fans who love our fireworks and assure them there will be a show next Friday."
