Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-Cody Rogers belted a three-run home run to lead the Bowling Green Hot Rods to a 6-3 victory over the Dayton Dragons on Thursday night before a crowd of 8,514 at Fifth Third Field. The Hot Rods have won the first two games in the series.

Bowling Green took the lead in the third inning, taking advantage of some wildness by Dragons starting pitcher Tim Crabbe. Crabbe walked two batters and hit two in the inning, including a bases loaded hit batsman that forced in the game's first run.

In the top of the fourth, Rogers belted a three-run home run to give the Hot Rods a 4-0 lead. It was Rogers' seventh homer of the year.

Dayton started back in the bottom of the fourth when Ryan LaMarre singled before Henry Rodriguez bombed a two-run home run high above the foul pole in right field to make it 4-2. It was Rodriguez's 11th home run of the year. Josh Garton followed the home run with a single to right, stole second, went to third on a ground out, and scored on Jonathan Kaskow's ground ball fielder's choice to make it 4-3.

But Bowling Green's Bennett Davis belted a solo homer in the sixth, his third home run of the season, to give the Hot Rods a 5-3 lead. They added one more in the top of the ninth to close out the scoring.

The Dragons struggled to put together a consistent attack against the Bowling Green bullpen. Hot Rods' relievers worked a combined five and two-thirds innings, allowing just two hits, no walks, and no runs while striking out seven.

Crabbe worked the first four and two-thirds innings for Dayton, allowing six hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts. He also hit three batters and suffered the loss to fall to 2-3.

The Dragons collected six hits. Rodriguez went 2 for 4 to lead the way.

The Dragons (8-23) host the Hot Rods (15-17) on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Blair Carson (3-4, 3.60) will start for Dayton against Bowling Green's Jason McEachern (4-9, 5.36). Friday's game will be televised on WHIO Digital Channel 7.2 (Time Warner Basic Cable channel 23). Former Reds infielder Chris Sexton, a star at St. Xavier High School who went on to begin the all-time career batting leader at Miami University, will provide color commentary.
