
Buchholz makes start and PawSox win

American League All Star Clay Buchholz made a start for the PawSox in Syracuse on Friday night. It was a game the PawSox went on to win 9-5. Pawtucket (43-49) has now won three straight. Buchholz (hamstring) worked 3.2 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs. The Texan also walked a pair and hit a man. Pawtucket scored early, getting 2 runs in the first on a home run by Jed Lowrie and an rbi double by Lars Anderson. Lowrie had a single, double and a homer. Josh Reddick homered in the second, Dusty Brown did the same in the third and Ryan Kalish went deep in the sixth. In the sixth, Anderson added a two run triple.
The pesky Chiefs did not go away quietly. In the eighth inning, Michael Bowden inherited a bases loaded, no out situatiion. Bowden struck out All Star Chase Lambin and then got Jason Botts to hit into a 1-2-3 double play. In the ninth, Bowden retired the side in order. He had 3 strikeouts in two innings for his first save. Fabio Castro (4-6) was credited for the win.
The series continues on Saturday night at 7:00p.m. Shairon Martis (6-5, 3.75) will face Major League rehabber Josh Beckett.
