TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons play the Indianapolis Indians in the opening game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd has won two straight after winning 7-3 over Lehigh Valley on Tuesday to earn a split of the four-game set with the IronPigs. After Sunday, the Bisons leave for an eight-game roadtrip to Gwinnett and Charlotte.
vs. THE INDIANS: The Bisons trail the Indians 3-1 in the season series. Indy won a four-game set over the Herd at Victory Field, May 6-9. The Bisons haven't won a four-game set over the Indians since they took three of four at Indy from June 28 - July 1, 2004. Since then, the Herd has five splits and six series losses to Indianapolis (16-28 record).
WINNING MISCH: LHP PAT MISCH is 4-0 with a 2.82ERA in six games at Coca-Cola Field this season. The southpaw tossed seven strong innings in his last start at home, striking out seven Syracuse Chiefs on June 1. Misch is third on the team with 44 strikeouts, behind RHP Tobi Stoner and RHP Dillon Gee.
HOLY THOLE: C JOSH THOLE has posted three consecutive multi-hit games with a .636 (7-11) average since Sunday. Thole leads the Herd with 18 doubles on the season, a total that is also good for 5th best in the International League. Since May 18, the catcher has averaged .431 (25-58) with nine multi-hit efforts in his last 18 games played.
WELCOME BACK: OF FERNANDO MARTINEZ now has seven hits in his four games since returning to the Bisons on June 11. The outfielder has averaged .438 (7-16) with two doubles, two home runs and seven runs scored. The outfielder missed 23 games with Buffalo because of a left hamstring strain. Martinez was on the disabled list from May 14 - June 7.
KEEP ON TURNIN': INF JUSTIN TURNER has reached base in all 18 games he's played with the Bisons. The infielder has a .319 (23-72) average in his time with Buffalo. Turner has five doubles in his last six games.
METS UPDATE: The Mets won 8-4 last night against the Cleveland Indians to improve their record to 37-28. Former Bison INF IKE DAVIS doubled twice and scored a run for New York. Another former Bison, LHP JON NIESE pitched seven strong innings to improve to 4-2 on the season. The Mets will look for the three-game series sweep over the Tribe tonight at 7:05 p.m. The Mets will then return home for the Yankee Stadium-portion of the 2010 Subway Series.
