Syracuse Mets News Release
Syracuse, NY--The Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, announced today that former Syracuse University basketball player Arinze Onuaku will make a special appearance at Alliance Bank Stadium on Thursday, June 24 when the Chiefs host the Charlotte Knights at 7:00pm.
Onuaku will be on hand as part of NBA Draft Trivia Night and will throw out the game's ceremonial first pitch before heading to the concourse to sign autographs for fans at no charge.
A native of Lanham, MD, Onuaku has spent the last five seasons at SU (he missed his sophomore year due to injury) and finished his career as the school's all-time leader in field goal percentage (.648). He also averaged double figures in scoring in each of his final three seasons in an Orange uniform and also finished his career in 11th place on SU's career blocks list. In addition to his work on the court, Onuaku was named to the Big East Conference All-Academic team and SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll on several occasions.
"We excited about the opportunity to welcome Arinze Onuaku to our ballpark," said Chiefs General Manager John Simone. "It will be a great opportunity for the sports fans of Central New York to congratulate him on a great career and give him one more ovation."
Fans will have the chance to win gift certificates to local businesses throughout the night by answering trivia questions related to the NBA Draft during half-inning breaks in the game.
Tickets for all Syracuse Chiefs home games can be purchased in person at the team's ticket office at Alliance Bank Stadium, by calling 315-474-7833, or online at SyracuseChiefs.com.
