Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

The PawSox lost an 11 inning game 6-5 on Tuesday night in a most unusual way. With one out, Kevin Melillo hit a booming triple into the alley in rightfield. As he landed at third, Niuman Romero sailed a throw into the Indians bullpen and that allowed Melillo to score the deciding run.

Indianapolis scored first on a double by Pedro Alvarez in the first inning. Pawtucket scored 5 unanswered runs, 2 in the second and 3 in the fourth. In the second inning, Jorge Jimenez delivered a 2 run single. Leading 5-1 in the seventh, the bullpen combination of T.J. Large and Dustin Richardson allowed 4 runs, tying the game 5-5.

Adam Mills again pitched well enough to win, leaving with a 4 run lead. Mills worked six innings, scattering 5 hits. He walked three and struck out three. Brian Bass was the winner and Robert Manuel was the loser. The run allowed by Manuel (2-1) was unearned.

The series continues on Wednesday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. Kris Johnson (3-4, 3.42) faces Brad Lincoln (6-2, 3.16).
