Syracuse, N.Y. - Pete Orr's two-run home run in the eighth inning gave the Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, a 7-6 victory in game one of their four game set with the Louisville Bats Tuesday night at Alliance Bank Stadium. The home run was Orr's team-leading eighth of the season.

Syracuse (34-24) built a four-run lead in the second inning off of Louisville starter Homer Bailey. Pete Orr, Bill Rhinehart, Josh Wilkie and Boomer Whiting each collected hits in the inning.

The Chiefs put up another run in the fourth for a 5-0 edge. After Rhinehart drew a two-out walk, second baseman Pedro Lopez's line drive found a gap in left centerfield, allowing Rhinehart to score all the way from first.

The Bats came back to score four in the top of the fifth to make it 5-4. With two outs and runners on second and third, Chase Lambin bobbled Drew Sutton's grounder to third, allowing second baseman Chris Valaika to score Louisville's first run of the game. One batter later, shortstop Zack Cozart smashed a three-run shot over the left-field wall for his eighth home run of the season.

Louisville (26-33) came back for two more in the sixth. After back-to-back doubles from Wladimir Balentien and Wilkin Castillo to start the inning, Todd Frazier dropped a single in front of Boomer Whiting in left field for the Bats' third hit of the inning. Castillo beat the throw home, giving Louisville it's first lead of the game, 6-5.

Josh Wilkie pitched three innings in his first start of the year for Syracuse. He allowed just two hits while striking out four. Chiefs closer Joel Peralta earned his second win of the season, pitching the eighth and ninth innings for Syracuse. After giving up a two-out double to pinch hitter Mike Griffin in the ninth, Peralta ended the ball game by striking out outfielder Drew Sutton. The two scoreless innings lowered Joel Peralta's season ERA to a team best 0.67

Jared Burton lost for the first time this season. He gave up Orr's two-run homer in the eighth inning. In a rehab start for the Reds, Homer Bailey tossed 4 2/3 innings, giving up six hits and five earned runs. He struck out three and walked two.

The Chiefs play Louisville again Wednesday night in game two of the series. Matt Chico (1-1, 3.86) will get the start for the Chiefs against Bats' lefthander Matt Maloney (4-3, 3.55). First pitch will be at 7:00.
