Bats bludgeon PawSox in Kentucky

Chris Burke hit a leadoff home run in the first off Kris Johnson and things went down hill after that, as Louisville dumped Pawtucket 8-4 on Friday in Kentucky. Before the first inning was over, the Bats had a 3-0 lead. It grew to 4-0 as Zack Cozart added a solo shot in the second Louisville broke it open with three more runs in the fifth. Chris Valaika ripped a 2 run single.

Down 7-0, the PawSox began to chip away, but it was too little, too late. Ryan Kalish notched his first Triple A RBI with a double. Josh Reddick hit his first home run in a month, a solo shot.

Matt Klinker (1-1) picked up the win with 6 good innings of work. Johnson falls to 3-4, lasting just three innings. Daniel Nava had 3 hits and an RBI and Reddick added 2.

The teams, both 25-30 will square off on Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. Lefty Travis Wood (3-4, 4.19) faces Michael Bowden (1-2, 5.10).
