Rochester Red Wings News Release

*LAST TIME OUT* MANSHIP BLANKS NORFOLK, 9-0-Starter Jeff Manship (3-2) pitched a complete-game four-hit shutout and catcher Wilson Ramos went 5-for-5 with two RBI, as Rochester shutout Norfolk 9-0, Thursday afternoon at Frontier Field. Manship picked up the win, allowing just four hits while striking out six in just his second career 9.0 inning complete-game shutout. Trevor Plouffe, Jacque Jones, Brock Peterson and Toby Gardenhire each had two hits in the Red Wings' 16-hit attack. A win tonight would give the Red Wings a three-game winning streak which would match their longest winning streak of the season (April 30-May 2). *WHAT'S ON DECK* HOME, SWEET, HOME-The Red Wings continue their eight-game homestand tonight with the first game of a four-game series vs. Toledo. Rochester will play Toledo through Monday before hitting the road for an eight-game road trip to Columbus and Toledo. ROAD TRIP TO THE BUCKEYE STATE- The Red Wings will embark on an eight-game road trip through the State of Ohio starting Tuesday. Rochester will begin the trip with a fourgame series in Columbus Tuesday-Friday before concluding the trip with a four-game series in Toledo next Saturday-Monday. *WHAT'S NEWS* YOU THE MAN!-Reliever Tim Lahey has been outstanding his last six appearances, going 4-0 with a 0.79 ERA. In 11.1 innings of work, Lehay has allowed just one run on four hits while walking eight and striking out seven. Rochester has a 7-11 record in their last 18 games and Lahey has four of those wins. In these six appearances Lahey has lowered his ERA from 8.28 to 5.94. WAS DOROTHY WRONG?-The Red Wings have gotten off to a slow start at Frontier Field this season going 11-15. The Red Wings have played well at Frontier Field since they changed affiliations to the Twins in 2003 (292-236 record/.553). The last time Rochester had a losing record at Frontier Field was 2002 when the Red Wings had a 30-41 record. A "SERIES" PROBLEM-Through the first 15 series this season Rochester is without a series win (0-5-10 record). Rochester has split nine of the 15 series they've played and been swept twice (two-game series in Scranton April 12 & 13 and four-game series vs. Syracuse May 18- 21). Rochester has lost their last 19 series with their last series win coming August 28-30, 2009 when they took two of three from Buffalo at Frontier Field. HUGHES ACTIVATED FROM DL-Infielder Luke Hughes was activated from the disabled list today. Hughes has been on the disabled list since may 15th with a strained left hip flexor. Hughes is batting .246 with one home run and seven RBI in 19 games for Rochester. MUD IN MUDDY'S EYE-Rochester looks to change their fortune against Toledo in 2010. The Red Wings haven't won a season series vs. Toledo since 1997. Since 2001 Rochester has won only one series vs. Toledo at Frontier Field (2008 3-1 record vs. Toledo). Toledo holds a 23-13 record at Frontier Field since 2001. GOOD STARTS-The Red Wings starting pitchers have done a good job the last 13 games, going 2-3 with a 3.04 ERA. In 74.0 innings of work, the starters has allowed 29 runs (25 earned) on 66 hits while walking 12 and striking out 61. This comes after the starters really struggled the previous 18 games, going 1-11 with an 8.39 ERA. In 83.2 innings of work, the starters allowed 88 runs (78 earned) on 119 hits while walking 48 and striking out 59. START YOUR ENGINES-The Red Wings have struggled at the beginning of games this season being outscored 152-76 in the first four innings. Rochester's opponents have scored first in 34 of their first 54 games with Rochester coming back to win 12 of them (12-22 record).
