Trenton Thunder News Release

Trenton, NJ- The Thunder scored late to clinch their eighth straight win in a 3-0 victory over the Binghamton Mets on Friday at Waterfront Park. With the win, Trenton improves to 19-15 on the season.

The official start of the game was delayed by one hour and eight minutes, but that did not affect either starting pitcher. Both Trenton RHP Lance Pendleton and Binghamton RHP Dylan Owen pitched six strong innings, and both gave up just one hit. Pendleton walked four batters and struck out six, while Owen struck out a season-high eight batters.

The Thunder struck first in the bottom of the seventh, scoring the first run of the game on a wild pitch by Binghamton LHP Roy Merritt (1-3). Austin Krum scored from third base after singling to left field to lead off the inning. With two outs and the bases loaded, Marcos Vechionacci singled down the right field line to score David Adams and Austin Romine, and the Thunder went out in front 3-0. In total, they scored three runs on two hits in the seventh inning, and took advantage of a throwing error by Merritt, as Adams reached base on the error and came around to score.

LHP Wilkin De La Rosa (1-2) came on to pitch two scoreless innings in relief of Pendleton. Grant Duff picked up his sixth save of the year, by retiring the side in the ninth.

The Thunder continue the series with the Binghamton Mets on Saturday at 7:05 PM. RHP Lance Pendleton will start for the Thunder, while Binghamton gives the ball to RHP Dylan Owen.
