Think Pink With The Flying Squirrels On Saturday

The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, have announced that Saturday, May 15th will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night at The Diamond. The Flying Squirrels take on the Altoona Curve at 6:35 PM with gates opening at 5:00 PM.

To kick off the night, there will be a Pink Visor giveaway presented by HCA Virginia Health System. The first 2,000 female fans through the gates will receive the giveaway item.

The Flying Squirrels players will be decked out in pink jerseys to support Breast Cancer awareness. An "off the back" jersey auction will take place during the game, giving fans a chance to bid on the pink jerseys. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and winners will be announced at the end of the seventh inning.

"We always enjoy being able to use our platform for a great cause, and promotion Breast Cancer Awareness is certainly a great cause," said Flying Squirrels' Vice President & COO Todd "Parney" Parnell. "The Pink Jerseys are always a big hit, and we're excited to be able to hold this special auction for our fans."

There will also be the Topps Attax regional qualifying tournament at The Diamond. The winner will move on to compete at the Topps Attax National Championships at Citi Field in New York City. The tournament is free with registration taking place between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM.

The Diamond will be bustling with activity on Saturday with the Chevy Youth Clinic in the morning and the James Farrior Foundation's "Tackling Everyday Life" Celebrity Softball game at 1:00 PM. The softball game will feature the Richmond City Police Department vs. The Pittsburgh Steelers. A Home Run Competition will take place at noon.
