SALEM, VA - The Salem Red Sox, Advanced Class A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have announced a construction project to resurrect one of the main ticket box office buildings that was deemed condemned after a car collided with the building on April 11, 2010.

The accident took place less than a week before Salem's home opener at 10:30am. Luckily, no one was injured in the accident but the Salem Red Sox front office, game-day employees, and fans have had to deal with logistical issues over the first few homestands of the 2010 season.

"It's not every day a car crashes straight through your ticket box office," said Salem Red Sox general manager Todd Stephenson. "As always, the City of Salem has been great throughout the entire process."

The City of Salem has concluded only some parts of the original structure cannot be used in the rebuild including bricks and mortar on a single side of the building. Virginia Building Systems will be at Salem Memorial Ballpark each day starting at 6:30am in hopes to complete the project within 30 days.

The Salem Red Sox would like to thank their fans for their patience and understanding while the Red Sox and the City of Salem have been planning the reconstruction of the box office. For more information about the Salem Red Sox, call (540) 389-3333 or visit www.salemsox.com.
