Red Wings Rally To Salvage Split

Rochester scored a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning on Sunday, rallying to beat Pawtucket 4-3. Erik Lis homered against Joe Nelson with a man on to erase the 3-2 PawSox lead. Nelson (1-1) was the opening night winner. The Sox had taken the advantage on a Mark Wagner blast into the rightfield bullpen in the fifth inning. It was the first homer of the year for Wagner. Josh Reddick chipped in with three hits and and rbi, as well. Coincidentally, those two players had shaved each others' heads the night before, hoping to change their luck.

Fabio Castro turned in a solid effort in his first start of the year, working 4 innings, allowing a single run. Castro was followed by Ramon Ramirez (1r/i.p.), Chad Paronto (a 1-2-3 inning) and then Nelson and Fernando Cabrera. The series finished at 2-2 after Pawtucket had won the first two outings. Lehigh Valley makes its' first 2010 appearance at McCoy on Monday at 6:15 p.m. Game one of the two game series features a matchup of top prospects. Drew Carpenter faces Michael Bowden.
