Royals Release Gwilliam and Kaunisto

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has released forward Malcolm Gwilliam and defenseman Steven Kaunisto. In separate transactions also announced today, the Royals (i) placed forward Ben McLeod on the 7-Day Injured Reserve; and (ii) placed forward Chase Watson on the 3-Day Injured Reserve. The Royals also released Emergency Back-Up Goaltender Mike Willerding, who was signed as the team's EBG for last Sunday's game against the Charlotte Checkers. Gwilliam, who joined the Royals after completing his season and Michigan Tech University, played five games with the Royals and registered two penalty minutes. Kaunisto, who signed with Reading after completing his senior season at Lake Superior State University, scored one goal and assisted on another in four games with the Royals.

The Royals continue the team's season long six game road trip on Wednesday (March 31, 2010 @ 7:05 pm) at First Arena in Elmira, New York, where the team will face the Elmira Jackals. The Royals game night broadcast on the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will begin at 6:35 pm.
