Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - The Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Manchester Monarchs, netted $42,000 for three area charities during their ninth annual "At Your Service" event, held at The Event Center at C.R. Sparks in Bedford, New Hampshire, on Monday night. The money raised from the event will be donated to Child Health Services, Boys & Girls Club of Manchester and the Monarchs Care Foundation. The Monarchs "At Your Service" event has raised nearly half a million dollars for local charities over the last nine years.

"I am continuously amazed by the generosity of our caring community and the donations from our team and local businesses this season as we were able to increase our proceeds by 12% from last season especially in these tough economic times," said Cheryl Abbott, Monarchs Senior Vice President. "It's truly special how year after year, our fans embrace our team and join in our efforts to give back to the community."

A night where the hockey gloves come off and the bow ties come on, "At Your Service" annually turns a normally rugged hockey team into an accomplished wait staff eager to fulfill special requests, such as singing a song, telling a joke, doing impersonations, making surprise phone calls, posing for photos and dancing - all for charitable tips.

Silent auction items at this year's event included tickets to select events at the Verizon Wireless Arena as well as autographed Jonathan Bernier and Viatcheslav Voynov 2010 AHL All-Star jerseys and the wait staffs' specialty jerseys. Pottery, gift baskets and Build-A-Bears, all created by the players with their personal interests in mind, were also auctioned off to the top bidders. Top sellers were Bernier's specialty jersey, right wing John Zeiler's pottery, defenseman Doug Nolan's personalized gift basket and right wing Kevin Westgarth's Build-A-Bear.

In addition to mingling with their favorite hockey players, the fans attending Monday's event were also treated to a first-class dinner and a night of dancing.

The Monarchs will make their first trip in franchise history to the War Memorial at Oncenter to face-off with the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m. Catch all of the play-by-play action of Monarchs hockey with Ken Cail on the Monarchs Radio Network WGAM 900/1250 AM and at www.manchestermonarchs.com.
