Former Mariner Dan Wilson To Play In Celebrity All-Star Game At Hockey Challenge

Kent,February 18, 2010 - The Seattle Thunderbirds and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington and Alaska are pleased to announce former Seattle Mariner Dan Wilson will skate in the Celebrity All-Star Game at Hockey Challenge 2010.

Hockey Challenge is Saturday, February 27, at ShoWare Center in Kent. Hockey teams are formed by sponsors that raise money to play in the Challenge. All proceeds from the Challenge directly support operations of the Seattle Ronald McDonald House, which provides a -home-away-from-home- for children and their families during medical treatment, making each day a little easier. In fact, last year the Seattle Ronald McDonald House provided accommodations for 700 families.

Wilson played 12 years for the Seattle Mariners and was an American League All-Star in 1996. Wilson will skate on one of the teams in the Celebrity All-Star game that takes place after the Thunderbirds game.

A ticket to the Hockey Challenge gives fans access to all Challenge events on February 27 at ShoWare Center. Events include the Celebrity Game and autograph session, all other Challenge games and the T-Birds game that night against the Winterhawks. The Celebrity Game is scheduled to start after the T- Birds game ends.

The Celebrity autograph session starts at 5 p.m. at ShoWare Center and will go until 5:30 p.m. Celebrities scheduled to appear in the All-Star game and at the autograph session include: Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville), Jason Thompson (General Hospital), Brian Basset (cartoonist of -Adam @ Home- and -Red and Rover-), Kelly Tysland (formerly Kelly Stephens 2006 U.S. Women-s Olympic hockey bronze medalist), Bill Wixey (KCPQ news anchor), Paul Silvi (KING 5 sports anchor), Ian Furness (KJR 950 AM Host) and former T-Bird Ryan Gibbons. Paul Guilfoyle (CSI) and Cameron Bancroft (24: Day 4, Hockeyville on CBC) are currently tentative to appear based on their current shooting schedules. The T-Birds encourage fans to line up early for the autograph session.

T-Bird alumni playing in the Celebrity All-Star game include Jamie Huscroft, Al Kinisky, Regan Mueller, Blake Knox, Lloyd Shaw, Pat Smith, Danny Lorenz and Ryan Gibbons. Several former professional players will also take part in the All-Star game.

Hockey Challenge 2010 Schedule

Game 1 - Windows Women vs. Exchange Women, 9:40 a.m.

Game 2 - Microsoft Spartans vs. Amazon.com, 11:35 a.m.

Game 3 - Entertainment & Devices vs. Microsoft Mystery Team, 1:30 p.m.

Game 4 - Windows Live vs. MS IT, 3:25 p.m.

Celebrity Autograph Session - 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on west concourse of ShoWare Center

Game 5 - Seattle Thunderbirds vs. Portland Winterhawks, 6:05 p.m.

Game 6 - Celebrity All-Star, immediately following T-Birds/Winterhawks game

Over the past 11 years the Hockey Challenge has raised over $3.5 million for the Seattle Ronald McDonald House.

The T-Birds are expecting a large crowd for the game against the Winterhawks. To purchase single game tickets to this game fans should go to the ShoWare Center box office or go online to the T-Birds website.
