Chiefs Set To Announce Top 25 In 25 Years

The Spokane Chiefs have announced they will name their Top 25 Chiefs in 25 Years on February 26th in a special pre-game ceremony when they host the Prince George Cougars. A majority of the Top 25 Chiefs in 25 Years will be in attendance and honored at center ice.

The ceremony will begin at 7:00 with the puck dropping at 7:30.

Spokane moved from Kelowna prior to the 1985-86 and has won two Memorial Cups and WHL Championships (1991 and 2008), four Western Conference titles (1991, 1996, 2000, 2008) and two regular season division pennants (1996 and 2000).

417 players have worn a Chiefs jersey with 47 of them playing at least one game in the National Hockey League. Three former players, Jon Klemm, the Chiefs current Assistant Coach, (Colorado - 1996, 2001), Brent Gilchrist (Detroit - 1998) and Ray Whitney (Carolina - 2006) have gone on to win the Stanley Cup.

Two former Chiefs defenseman are coaching the team this year as Hardy Sauter (1991-92) is in his second season as the Head Coach. Klemm (1988-91) is in his first season as an assistant.

During the year, the Chiefs have celebrated some of their greatest moments and players in franchise history throughout the year with banners hanging from the rafters around the concourse of the Arena.

Chiefs fans had the opportunity to help select the top 25 Chiefs through on-line voting and balloting at the games. Other factors in selecting the top 25 Chiefs included career achievements, honors and team success.
