Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba -- The Brandon Wheat Kings have received some good news regarding the health of 19-year old defenceman Travis Hamonic.
The St. Malo product, who was obtained from the Moose Jaw Warriors at January's WHL Trade Deadline, has been given clearance from his doctors to resume full contact, which means he can participate in the hockey club's practices.
A member of the Silver medal winning Canadian entry at this year's World Junior Hockey Championship in Saskatoon, Hamonic was leading all WHL defencemen in scoring when he left the Warriors for Hockey Canada's National Selection Camp in December.
In 31 games with the Warriors this season, the New York Islanders second round draft choice had ten goals and 39 points. In 57 games with Moose Jaw last season, he had thirteen goals and 40 points.
In other news, the Wheat Kings have learned that veteran center Paul Ciarelli has been lost to the club indefinitely after suffering a hand injury during Brandon's 5-1 victory over the Tigers in Medicine Hat last Sunday night.
The 18-year old Winnipeg product has two goals and 10 points in 55 games with the Wheat Kings this season.
On the ice, Brandon will be putting a 4-game win streak on the line Friday night at Westman Place when the Regina Pats pay a visit. Tickets to the game are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca.
