Danny Battochio Named Oakley CHL Goaltender Of The Week

(Rapid City, SD) - On Monday afternoon, the Central Hockey League announced that Rush netminder Danny Battochio was named Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week for the term ending January 17th.
Battochio picked up both wins for the Rush last week, beginning with a one-goal outing against the Allen Americans on Friday. Rapid City came away with a convincing 6-1 victory in that game and topped the Amarillo Gorillas 4-3 the following night. The win marked Rapid City's sixth straight road win, an all-time high. The Lively, Ontario native collected 65 saves over the two games and gave up a total of four goals.
"Obviously Danny has been fantastic for us," said Head Coach Joe Ferras. "Right from the start when he went to AHL camp and earned a spot, we knew we had a quality goaltender. When he arrived in Rapid City, through hard work professionalism, he's quickly become a part of a fantastic tandem with Miguel [Beaudry]. Danny is a total professional and he takes great pride in doing what it takes to be a top notch goaltender. There's no doubt that he gives us chance to win night in and night out."
The rookie has posted a 14-3-1 record and was selected to the 2010 CHL All-Star team. Battochio's 14 victories are good enough for 2nd in the league while he ranks 4th among CHL netminders with a 2.52 GAA and 5th with a.920 sv%.
The Rush take on the Amarillo Gorillas Wednesday, January 19th and 20th at 6:35pm MST. Tickets are still available for both contests.

The Rapid City Rush Rushettes will be hosting their 2nd Annual Junior Rushettes Dance Camp. This season they are offering two separate dance camps; the first will be held Saturday, February 13th from 1 pm to 4 pm for girls ages 5 - 8 years old, and the second will be held Saturday, March 13th from 1 pm to 4 pm for 9 - 14 year olds. Each group will be invited to perform at center ice at that evening's Rush game. The cost for the camp is $55 and includes one FREE ticket to that night's Rush game, a camp tee-shirt, snack and 2010 Rushettes calendar.
